After a challenging opening portion of the season and a difficult outing in New Zealand, the reigning champion responded in the best possible way — converting pole position into a decisive victory and reminding the field why he remains one of the benchmark drivers in Supercars.
The opening laps produced immediate drama as Anton De Pasquale launched from the outside of the front row and grabbed the lead heading into Turn 1. However, the advantage would be short lived.
Mostert quickly settled into rhythm and made his move on lap two, attacking under brakes and reclaiming the lead through the technical middle section of the circuit. From that point forward, the Toyota GR Supra looked increasingly comfortable at the front.

Behind him, the battle for the podium remained intense. David Reynolds emerged as one of the strongest challengers and delivered one of his best performances of the year to secure second place, while Brodie Kostecki continued his title push with another valuable podium finish despite earlier setbacks. Championship leader Broc Feeney remained in contention throughout but narrowly missed the top three.
Strategy became a major factor once pit windows opened. Teams split approaches across tyre choices and stop timing, but Walkinshaw TWG Racing executed cleanly and ensured Mostert returned to the circuit with clear air and control of the race.
As the closing laps approached, Mostert extended the margin and avoided mistakes, eventually crossing the line more than five seconds clear to secure his first victory of the season and his first win driving Toyota machinery.
The result marked another milestone in Toyota’s growing Supercars program after already showing encouraging pace earlier in the season. For Mostert and the defending champions, the win represented more than points it was confirmation that the pace is returning at the right time.
With Tasmania underway and momentum beginning to shift, Race 14 may prove to be one of the defining moments of the 2026 championship campaign.
