Race 15 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship produced one of the season’s biggest stories at Symmons Plains, with Andre Heimgartner delivering a breakthrough victory that reshaped both confidence and championship momentum.

After showing speed throughout qualifying, the Brad Jones Racing driver launched from pole and converted opportunity into a near-perfect performance to secure his first race win in more than two years. The result also marked a major milestone for Toyota’s growing Supercars program and delivered a reward for a team that has continued building pace across the opening rounds of the season.

From the opening laps, championship leader Broc Feeney applied relentless pressure. The Red Bull Ampol Racing Ford repeatedly challenged under braking and looked threatening through the hairpin section, but Heimgartner remained calm and used strong race management to maintain track position. As the race settled, the #8 Toyota gradually began creating a small but valuable gap at the front.

Behind the leaders, the race quickly became a battle of strategy and survival. Pit windows opened and teams split tyre choices in an attempt to gain position, with some opting for aggressive undercuts while others relied on tyre life later in the race. Brad Jones Racing executed cleanly in pit lane, protecting Heimgartner’s advantage and allowing him to rejoin with control of the contest.

The turning point of the afternoon came in the championship fight. Mid-race contact involving Brodie Kostecki left the title contender carrying significant rear damage and ultimately sent him to the back of the field. The incident handed Feeney a major points advantage and added another layer of pressure to an already tight season battle.

Matt Payne capitalised on the changing conditions and strategy calls to secure another valuable podium finish, continuing his strong form and strengthening his position among the leading contenders heading into the middle phase of the season.

At the front, however, there was no stopping Heimgartner.

Crossing the line after a composed and dominant drive, the New Zealander finally returned to the top step and gave Brad Jones Racing a result that could become one of the defining moments of their 2026 campaign.
