Phillip Island once again proved why it remains one of Australia's most challenging circuits. Drivers were immediately faced with high-speed commitment through Turn One and the flowing nature of the coastal circuit, with small mistakes carrying major consequences. Throughout practice and qualifying, teams searched for the ideal balance as weather and track conditions continued evolving across the weekend.

When the race began, the field launched cleanly and immediately settled into an aggressive battle for positions. Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher started strongly and looked comfortable from the opening laps as Team MPC quickly established themselves at the front.

Behind the leaders, the battle throughout the field remained intense. Drivers traded positions through the high-speed opening sector while several teams looked to gain early advantages before pit stop strategies became a factor. Phillip Island’s fast and flowing corners continued producing close racing as competitors pushed hard around the edge of grip.

As pit windows opened, strategy immediately became the focus. Teams searched for opportunities through tyre management and timing, understanding that small gains in pit lane could become critical over the duration of the race.

Feeney and Schumacher maintained control throughout the middle stages and steadily built a gap over the chasing group. Consistency ultimately became one of the key differences as rival teams battled traffic and attempted alternative strategies.

The final laps saw Team MPC continue their strong pace and avoid mistakes, allowing them to guide their GT3 machine to the opening victory of the season.

For Team MPC, the result represented the perfect beginning to the 2026 campaign. For the rest of the field, Phillip Island had already delivered a reminder that the season ahead is shaping up to be highly competitive.
