Race 2 of the 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries GT Festival at Phillip Island delivered another dramatic chapter in the opening round of the GT World Challenge Australia season, with Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti producing a faultless performance to secure victory after a race packed with battles, safety cars and post-race controversy.

After Team MPC’s strong performance during the opening race of the weekend, all eyes shifted toward whether Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher could continue their momentum and complete a clean sweep of the opening round. Starting near the front of the field, the reigning champions once again looked fast throughout the early stages as the field launched into Turn One.
Phillip Island immediately delivered the close racing that fans have come to expect. The fast and flowing nature of the circuit forced drivers to commit through every corner, while the opening laps saw multiple cars running side-by-side through Southern Loop and the high-speed run toward Honda Corner.

As the race settled into rhythm, Tigani Motorsport’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti steadily moved into contention. The pair looked increasingly comfortable as pit strategies unfolded and began positioning themselves as serious challengers for victory.
Safety cars soon interrupted the race and repeatedly reset the field, creating fresh pressure for the leaders and turning the contest into a tactical battle as much as a driving challenge. Every restart created opportunities for overtaking while forcing drivers to balance aggression against risk.
The closing stages saw intense battles throughout the field, with Wolfbrook Motorsport's Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks continuing their strong pace while Feeney and Schumacher fought hard to remain on the podium.
However, one of the race's biggest moments arrived when contact during a battle involving Brad Schumacher resulted in a post-race penalty that dramatically reshaped the final results. The incident ultimately dropped the Team MPC Audi down the order after the chequered flag had fallen.

At the front though, Ojeda and Lucchitti remained calm under pressure and crossed the line to claim victory in style.
For Tigani Motorsport, the result represented the perfect start to their championship campaign. For Phillip Island fans, it was another reminder that the 2026 GT World Challenge season is already delivering plenty of excitement.
