Will Brown to Make NASCAR Cup Series Return at Chicago Street Race

Triple Eight star Will Brown is set to return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025, joining forces with Kaulig Racing for the iconic Chicago street race. Fresh off his maiden Supercars title in 2024, the Queenslander will pilot the #13 Chevrolet Camaro, aiming to challenge his Supercars rival Shane van Gisbergen and NASCAR’s top contenders.

Brown’s NASCAR cameo, scheduled for early July, is a one-off appearance that will see him compete in the Grant Park 165. The Chicago event, famously won by van Gisbergen in its 2023 debut, has become a must-see spectacle on the Cup calendar. Brown’s deal with Kaulig Racing was announced ahead of the Perth Supercars round, where he sits second in the championship just 33 points adrift of Broc Feeney.

The Chicago race comes just a week before the NTI Townsville 500, with the Supercars calendar accommodating Brown’s American adventure. He’ll join Kaulig Racing teammates AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon in the Chevrolet stable, supported by sponsors including MobileX, Shaw and Partners Financial Services, QuadLock, and more.

Brown made his NASCAR debut at Sonoma in 2024 with Richard Childress Racing. There, he impressed in practice, finishing third, but mechanical issues during qualifying and the race left him hungry for redemption. Watching van Gisbergen’s Chicago triumph further fuelled his desire to tackle the city’s temporary street course.

“After seeing what Shane did in 2023 and getting a taste of NASCAR at Sonoma, I couldn’t pass up the chance to race in Chicago,” Brown said. “It’s such a unique challenge, and I’m excited to race with Kaulig Racing in the MobileX and Shaw and Partners Financial Services No. 13 Camaro. I’m grateful that the Supercars schedule lined up to make this possible.”

Kaulig Racing, which finished second in the inaugural Chicago race with Justin Haley, is equally enthusiastic. Team owner Matt Kaulig said: “Having Will in our car is a big moment. His Supercars experience will be invaluable on a street course like Chicago. We’re aiming for the trophy, and we know he’s got the skills to get it done.”

Brown’s entry is part of a growing Supercars contingent dabbling in NASCAR, with Jack Perkins also securing a 2025 start and both Feeney and Cam Waters linked to future drives. With Brown’s competitive spirit and Kaulig Racing’s proven street course prowess, fans can expect a thrilling show in the Windy City.
