Brodie Kostecki Commits to Long-Term Future with Dick Johnson Racing

Brodie Kostecki, the 2023 Supercars Championship champion, has signed a landmark contract extension with Dick Johnson Racing (Shell V-Power Racing Team) that locks him in through to the end of 2030, signalling a clear long-term commitment between driver and team.

The decision is both strategic and symbolic: Kostecki arrived at DJR in 2025 after departing Erebus Motorsport and immediately made his mark with race wins and a renewed drive to reclaim championship success. On announcing the extension, both Kostecki and the team emphasised stability, infrastructure and the alignment of ambitions — six years of continuity to build something special.

For DJR, securing Kostecki on such a lengthy term was described by Executive Chairman Dr Ryan Story as a “priority”, indicating how pivotal the signing is for the outfit’s championship aspirations. The team leader Dick Johnson added that Kostecki’s technical acumen, race craft and fit with the team culture make him “the type of driver you want to build around”.

From Kostecki’s perspective the deal was an easy decision: he saw the existing team infrastructure, people and direction and chose to commit. He stated plainly that the next five years are focused on winning championships and delivering results for his team and its supporters.

This extension marks a significant moment in the Supercars “silly season” and driver market – with Kostecki now holding one of the longest continuous contracts on the grid and creating a foundation of stability in a sport that often sees frequent change.

In essence, the deal is both a reward for what Kostecki has already achieved and a statement of intent: that DJR intends to be back as a dominant force and that Kostecki will be central to that resurgence. With both driver and team aligned for the long haul, the coming seasons look poised for high expectations, and many will be watching to see whether this strategic move pays dividends in championship silverware.
