Starting from pole and fresh off a strong sprint performance, Márquez got a solid launch at the start of the main race—leaving behind a botched sprint where launch control issues had briefly compromised his start. Immediately, he found himself embroiled in a three-way battle with Bagnaia and Álex Márquez, swapping positions in a gripping opening sequence that had fans on the edge of their seats.

By lap nine, Márquez executed a decisive move to reclaim the lead and then delivered a masterclass in control and tire management—extending his advantage to nearly two seconds by the checkered flag. The result also marked his first MotoGP win at Mugello since 2014, a long-awaited return to form at Ducati's spiritual home.

Behind him, Álex Márquez held on for second, completing a rare family one–two at Mugello, while Fabio Di Giannantonio surged past Bagnaia to take the final podium spot in a late-race flourish. Bagnaia, despite his early attack, faded to fourth as issues on race pace began to surface.

Reflecting on the win, Márquez called the result “unexpected,” given the strength of his rivals and early uncertainties—but credited his patient approach for shaping the outcome. His ride at Mugello showcased composure, pace, and strategic execution—one that has further consolidated his standing atop the championship leaderboard
