Flawless Fernandez Delivers Dream Victory as Bezzecchi Battles Back for Podium Glory

Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) etched his name into MotoGP history with a sensational maiden victory at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, producing a flawless performance at Phillip Island to also secure Trackhouse’s first-ever premier-class win. The Spaniard’s composed ride made him the fifth different race winner in as many rounds, underlining the fierce unpredictability of this season.

Lightning Start and Early Tactics

From the moment the lights went out, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) launched like a rocket from the middle of the front row to snatch the holeshot, closely shadowed by Fernandez and rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). Bezzecchi soon received notification of his double Long Lap Penalty but cleverly chose to delay serving it, pushing hard to build a crucial gap. By Lap 4, the Italian led by over a second before finally diving into the Long Lap loop on Lap 5, emerging down in fifth place and nearly three seconds off the lead.

Meanwhile, disaster struck for home hero Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) who crashed at Turn 6, dashing hopes of an Aussie fairytale. Out front, Fernandez had taken control, passing Acosta to lead with a smooth rhythm that would carry him all the way to victory.

Fernandez in Command, Bezzecchi Charges Back

As the race settled, Fernandez gradually extended his advantage over Acosta and Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP). Behind them, Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) was carving through the field, dispatching Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) and closing on the podium battle. Bezzecchi, having served both penalties, began to claw his way back with a string of determined laps, overtaking Quartararo to reclaim fifth by Lap 10.

By the final third of the race, Fernandez’s lead had stretched beyond three seconds as Di Giannantonio muscled his way past both Acosta and Marquez to move into second. Bezzecchi wasn’t done yet—charging down Marquez and making a brave lunge at Turn 10 on the penultimate lap to secure the final podium spot.

A Landmark Day for Trackhouse and MotoGP

Crossing the line 1.6 seconds clear, Fernandez claimed a commanding and emotional first Grand Prix victory, completing a perfect weekend after back-to-back Sprint podiums. Di Giannantonio finished a strong second, while Bezzecchi’s comeback to third—despite a double Long Lap—was a testament to his relentless pace and racecraft.

With Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) crashing out, Bezzecchi moves up to third in the World Championship standings. For Fernandez and Trackhouse, it was a breakthrough moment—proof that perseverance and precision can make MotoGP dreams come true.
