SpeedSeries Sydney Motorsport Park Review
The 2025 Shannons SpeedSeries at Sydney Motorsport Park delivered a thrilling weekend of motorsport action, combining night racing drama with fast-paced Sunday showdowns across a variety of categories. Fans were treated to spectacular performances under the lights and in bright daytime conditions, as drivers pushed their limits in front of a passionate Sydney crowd.
GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS was the headline act, with Arise Racing’s Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte dominating the weekend. Piloting their Ferrari 296 GT3, the duo claimed victory in both races, leading a Ferrari 1-2 on Sunday and holding off fierce competition from Mercedes-AMG GT3s and other challengers throughout the event.
The Monochrome GT4 Australia series delivered close and competitive racing. Saturday’s honours went to Tom Hayman and Max Geoghegan in a McLaren Artura GT4, while Sunday saw Ford Mustang duo Rylan Gray and George Miedecke take their first Silver Cup win of the season. These results highlighted the diversity and depth of talent across the GT4 field.
In the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia, Antoine Gittany remained untouchable, sweeping both races from pole position. Enzo Cheng continued his strong form by topping the Coppa Shell class across the weekend, showcasing Ferrari’s gentleman racer series at its finest.
The Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge offered no shortage of drama, including a multi-car crash that shaped the outcome of Race 2. Tom Bewley and Lachlan Bloxsom each took a win on Saturday, while Sunday’s Jim Richards Enduro saw Kamal Mrad initially cross the line first, only to receive a penalty that handed the win to James Lodge.
Meanwhile, Cooper Cutts put on a clinic in the First Focus Radical Cup Australia, sweeping all four races to underline his dominance in the high-downforce single-seater category.
Across all sessions, the event delivered a high standard of racing, with strategic pit stops, wheel-to-wheel battles, and standout individual performances. The combination of twilight spectacle and daytime intensity made the Sydney round a standout on the Shannons SpeedSeries calendar.
With the bar set high, attention now turns to Queensland Raceway, where the series will continue from May 30 to June 1, promising more edge-of-the-seat racing and rising motorsport stars in action.
